Industry leaders will be heading to Washington, D.C. to meet with Congressmen and Senators to promote new legislation that has been submitted in both chambers to nullify Rule 151A, the SEC's blatant attempt to take over the oversight of fixed indexed annuities in spite of a stern opposition to their doing so.
Kevin Wedmore, president of A2Z Annuity Marketing, will meet with Congressmen Andre Carson and Dan Burton and with Senators Evan Bayh and Richard Lugar to ask for their support in co-sponsoring House Bill 2733 and Senate Bill 1389 respectively. This bill would permantly make fixed indexed annuities an insurance product that would be regulated by the various state departments of insurance. Dubbed 'The Fixed Indexed Annuities and Insurance Products Calssification Act of 2009' the bills are already enjoying support from both sides of the political aisle.
